Overview
This UK consumer electronics company sells gaming hardware. The product range includes both pre-built gaming PCs and individual peripherals. As an online retailer selling some very stylish looking products, they sell directly to a wide range of customers through their eCommerce store.
They brought us on at a time when their company was in a large period of growth, due to the pandemic.
Challenges
The company is one of the smallest and less established players in a crowded market. As this specific sub-industry is fairly technical, it involved a learning curve to understand the types of content and links that work well in this space.
They had recently experienced a 19% loss in organic traffic due to Google's latest algorithm update and were also later impacted by further updates of the algorithm.
The client had already sought help from an agency to help with a technical SEO audit, and understood the importance of links. Which is when they contacted us, to help improve their organic traffic and sales in the long-term.
Strategy
Goal: Securing links from relevant websites was our main goal as it's considered as one of the most important ranking factors.
We leveraged two main strategies for our client:-
Anchor Text Analysis
Before executing a link building strategy, we audited the site's backlink profile to ensure there weren't any suspicious sites linking to it. We also analysed the anchor text distribution to see if it looked natural. The site had a good mixture of anchor texts, and not just targeted or exact match.
Competitor Analysis
Two types of analysis were involved:
- We looked at the links that our competitors have that we didn't have.
- We identified the types of links at page and domain level that the top competitors had.
Then we prioritised which links we wanted first, and those we didn't want. As the client wanted higher traffic and authority sites, this is what we focussed on.
Results
Ultimately, our link building efforts paid off and we built over 127 links for the site, which helped achieve a 179.34% increase in monthly organic sessions, and 23% more sales.
